LIFE 25th Anniversary
18 May 2017
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of LIFE - the EU's financial instrument for nature, the environment and climate action - the LIFE SMART Waste project will be promoted by ACR+ at two events in Barcelona, Spain during 18-19 May 2017.
The EU has been supporting nature, environment and climate action for 25 years. To celebrate this milestone the LIFE community is organising a series of events around Europe during May 2017, a date that also marks a quarter century of the EU Habitats Directive and Natura 2000 network of protected areas. Promotion of the LIFE SMART Waste project will be carried out in the framework of the 25th Anniversary of the LIFE Programme at two suitable events.
The first of the events in Barcelona is the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) International Conference taking place on 18 May 2017. The conference, entitled 'Qualitative prevention, a new approach towards the circular economy', is organised by the Catalan Waste Agency and will explore new awareness-raising management strategies aimed at achieving waste prevention. Several regional EWWR Coordinators will also present best practices and inspiring actions. Conference delegates are invited to visit the LIFE SMART Waste information booth hosted by ACR+.
Following the EWWR International Conference in Barcelona, ACR+ is inviting its members to gather on 19 May 2017 for its 23rd General Assembly. The ACR+ General Assembly 2017 will be dedicated to the exchange of waste management experiences and good practices, a key activity of the network. Information on the LIFE SMART Waste project will be available from ACR+ to those members in attendance.
