Nestlé UK & Ireland Sustainable Growth Agreement
Under this Agreement, Nestlé and SEPA have formed a three-year partnership to explore opportunities for environmental innovation in Scotland with Nestlé currently drawing down around 8% of Scottish dairy, processed at its factory in Girvan, South Ayrshire.
The agreement will cover three main areas:
- Developing circular economy opportunities in food production, food waste and packaging with Scotland for Nestlé UK & Ireland value chains.
- Exploring a fresh approach to maximising local environment, social and economic benefit in the South of Scotland, built around the Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) concept.
- Developing resources that will enable businesses in the agri-food arena to understand their environmental obligation and landscape dependencies.
With an initial focus on food production, food waste and packaging, it is hoped the partnership can identify and overcome challenges that can inhibit the development of circular economy business models. This latest partnership will also see the LENs concept implemented for the first time north of the border. This collaborative regional model will bring together private, public and third sectors with communities around shared interests which benefit the environment, communities and business.
